Actually Rick, you can lift the whole 80 feet safely, but not by
attaching the crane to the top section. You need all the guys in place
on the tower, and a couple of helpers, but basically, you attach the
lift at about the 50' point by means of a strap around the whole
thing.
When the crane begins its life, the heavier section will come to a
near vertical postion, and it's relatively simple then to just pull on
the
guys.
