For three years I had the "luxury" of running my B'nut HF6 (with no wire
radials) on top of an all metal "out building" which was 30' x 40' with a
sloping all metal steel roof . I also had a full sized 80M vertical (wire
supported from a rope between two 100' tall pines) working against 30 wire
radials laying on top of the ground. In comparison the B'nut was always
(and only) 1 S unit (what ever that means on a TS-850) down from the full
sized antenna. To my way of thinking this is a pretty good endorsement of
the metal roof as the B'nut is less than 1/8 wave tall on 80M and not the
most effecient radiator on that band (it really worked out well on 40M).
