Dale,
I haven't tried it, but it seems to me that it would be of little use
other
than as a confirmation that a piece of cable is really dead, because it
takes 6db of strength change to make just one S-unit change. This
means that the loss in a piece of cable could go up or down more
than a db without affecting the S meter.
