Jim,
I wonder if you'd be able to answer a question for me. I'm considering the
MFJ 259B and the new AEA analyzer (the one that does complex impedance.) I
have used both the original MFJ 259 and the Autek RF-1, and my biggest
complaint about both of them is the frequency tuning. When searching for
resonance, I have a lot of trouble pinning the frequency down any closer
than, say, 25 KHz, sometimes more. I think this is mostly due to the fact
that the tuning is so coarse. The RF-1 has a fine tune dial, but it's not
particularly fine and I still have had problems reproducing results from one
measurement to the next. The AEA supposedly has a much better oscillator,
and you can simpy key in any desired frequency. The advertising for the 259B
says it has a reduction drive for tuning. How well does it work?
Thanks & 73, Dick, WC1M
