Well, the more acid it is the quicker the
aluminum/tinned/galvanized will be zapped;
ditto the copper in alkaline soil. Howewver, yes,
if your soil is acidic go with aluminum tinned or
galvanized material and if your soil is neutral or
alkaline (base) go with copper based amterial.

Is there a chemist or other relevant professional out there who can clarify
the relationship between soil pH and corrosion of various radial materials.
I've been told that aluminum will be relatively long-lived in acid soils,
while copper is preferable in alkaline earth. Is this for real?
