I believe the number is 2 1/16".  This means you need the shim it 1/32 of an
inch at both places the mast touches the bell housing.  I use two narrow
strips of 1/32 aluminum sheet that I cut with tin snips.  Works great.  No
need to shim under the u-bolts.
