And dont forget to remove the crank up handle and/or secure the wench so it
can not be moved. About 20 years ago while operating the WPX SSB contest
single band 15, I had to take time out late sunday morning to make an
emergency trip to the hospital when my 10 year old son flipped the latch on my
54 foot crankup and drilled a hole right in the middle his forehead when the
handle came around. While there was plenty of blood we were fortunate that it
did not do any eye or other serious damage. I did have a clip through the
wench bracket but it was easily removed.
I did manage to get back on the air and finish the contest with USA victory.
OH, the good old days when you could win from the west coast.
