Hello again Les,
Just thought I would mention that I was the "rep" for Cushcraft. I also am the
designer of the X7 and X9. Computer modeling shows the performance of the two
antennas mentioned in your comparison. The X7 and X9 were optimized for 10, 15
and 20 meters. It is your decision as to which bands you prefer. The X9 has
performed well for stations since last October. Yagi Strength models for both
antennas are available for comparison.
Also I must mention there were three X9 antennas on the shelf at AES 20 feet
from where we stood. Didn't I offer to carry them to your car??

I was had just decided to get a TH11 since, according to hygain, it is
broad banded on 5 bands. However, I was at the AES open house this weekend
and talked to the Cushcraft rep there. Of course he said that the X9 was
better. He said that the X9 will give better performance on 10, 15 and 20
because it did not have to be optimized for all 5 bands. He then went on
to say that it would perform adequately on 12 and 17 but with an SWR of 4:1
and can be used on those two bands with an antenna tuner. In other words
the X9 has better performance on 10, 15, 20 but not as good on 12 AND 17.
Also, he said, you can install a 40 m 2 element add-on kit. Too good to be
true? Any comments?
