THHN is the designation for oil or gasoline resistant thermoplastic
coating. It has a plastic coating shell and then a colored plastic
insulation before you get to the #14 stranded cable. THHN is the standard
copper wiring for households in the USA. THHN refers to the stuff which
is NOT the wire, but rather the covering.
