You might try sailing gloves,
These have a rough leather palm and have stretchy backs so they fit tight.
They have no finger tips, so it is easy to handle small hardware. I have
never had a problem with them coming off (unlike biking or weight lifting
gloves). They are easily purchased from outfits like West Marine.
