Aloha and Mahalo to all who responded with the QTH info
about R1ANF, down in the South Shetlands at a Russian
base there.
Also very pleased by those who have pointed out that the
HF bands are little, if at all, impacted by signal
absorption from green foliage. That is very good
news indeed!! Several described their loops and
wires mounted among the trees that seem not to be
degraded when the greenery is fully on as compared
to the Winter bare season.
Final tune up tweak on the V wires will occur this
Saturday; going to the far ends and pull as much
sag from the long runs as possible. Will also put
push-up poles on the two remaining wires at the
near ends to help them stay above the close in
tree tops; have done so for two wires, might
as well finish the job.
Am now really seeing some V-beam gain on rcv'd
signals on 40 and 80. Too bad the bands are
so noisy from Sun activity: flares, proton events
(whatever those are) and ionosphere storms now.
Next week should be better, we hope!
