I found the noted article slightly biased against crank-up towers. Do not
climb, is clear and obvious, altho many apparently do that! However,
initial cost of tower is not the only cost in the case of guyed
towers--guy wire, turnbuckles, pre-forms, dead-ends, dead-end anchor
concrete, proper tensioning, messed up patterns due to improper guy wire
use, danger of falling in high weather (not so with a crank-DOWN),
difficulty of getting ants to the top of guyed towers, etc. etc.

For a city lot and a single tower set-up a correctly installed crank-down
tower is the best choice, most friendly with neighbors, easiest
installation (tower and antennas), safer in bad weather, etc etc.
Smy opinion, K4VUD
