Hi all,
The short base came in today-FINALLY! , I drove up to the distributor and
picked it up, installed it in the hole and finished the rebar mats. My
neighbors must think i'm LOONEY now after seeing me working out there until
8:30 with lights strung around the hole! Tomorrow morning the Building
inspector comes to inspect, and the cement trucks will be here between
11:30 and 1:00 pm. 4000 psi mix.
Looks like i'll have some aluminum in the air next Saturday! Nice to see
the light at the end of the tunnel after all this time!
The idea I got of suspending the short base with threaded rod from the
braces of the forms worked excellent, I got the base installed in about 1
hour by myself. (all 100 pounds of it)
Some of you may remember a previous posting of mine regarding fashioning a
lifting arrangement for lifting the mast with antennas to the top of the
tower, well I got a brainstorm several days ago- had one of my customers
weld a flat plate to the top of the mast-about 3x6",drilled one hole in
each side about 3/8", and now I can install a loop of 1/4" guy wire though
the holes and fasten the ends to a clamp further down the mast-it will stay
there and hopefully could be used later on if and when the mast ever needs
to be removed again. The other nice benefit I get out of this is that the
mast is now capped and watertight from the top, this will hopefully keep
any internal rusting to a minimum.
I have taken almost a roll of film already, when all is done, I will post
these pictures to my web site so you all can see.
