Hi Bob and all you dipole users out there:

I see nothing wrong with suspending the 80m wire below the 160 as I
do... using half inch wide strips of fiberglass perfboard every ten
feet. Then, I also suspend a 40m dipole from the 80m one in exactly
the same fashion. All dipoles share a common feedpoint with absolutely
not trouble whatsoever. I use about six inch spacing for each dipole
with NO insulators at the ends of the suspended wires....only some
fishing line putting some tension on them.
I can't say it looks any worse that a single dipole. I LIKE IT! I
think it looks pretty. I custom made it. I like my handiwork. It's
not rocket science. Anyone can do it. It's cheap. If a ham can't
design and build one of these suckers... he shouldn't be given a
license!!! (Sorry gang... that's just an outrageous personal
opinion...taken to excess!)
Anyway, if you have to lower and raise the antenna each time you're
going to change bands... chances are you're not gonna be changing bands
too often. Shame, since it's so unnecessary.
