Greetings:
I thought I would pass on some info about a fairly unique (to me)
concrete
mixer that may be of use to others, particularly for small jobs. It is
called
"Od-Job" and I ordered it from a Heartland America catalog
(1-800-229-2901)
for $29.99 plus shipping. It is a heavy-duty plastic cylinder about 18"
tall
and 12" diameter; looks kind of like an Igloo water cooler. It holds up
to
60 lbs. of premix (or you can mix your own) at a time, and you turn it
on
its side and roll it with your feet for 30 seconds for a "perfect mix"
of concrete.
It has two internal curved baffles that mix the ingredients from top to
bottom.
The screw-on top has a removeable rubber O-ring for sealing. It worked
very
well for me for a small job (nine sixty-pound bags), although I'd still
want to
order a concrete truck for big jobs. By the way, I used Quick-Crete
5000,
which is a fast-drying high-strength mix. Cures to 5000 lb/sq.in. It
does
cost a lot more than the standard mixes, though ($2.94 per 60-lb. bag
versus
$1.68 for the standard Quick-Crete at Home Depot). Hope this info is of
use to someone (and no, I have no affiliation with Heartland America).
