I assume you are talking about a regular 25G section. If so, the over-all
length is 10 feet since it is made out of standard 10 foot lengths of steel
tubing. The sections are joined by sliding the bottom of the legs of a
section over the top legs of the section below it. This can be done since
the tops of the legs are swaged down to a smaller diameter such that they
will fit inside the bottom legs of the section above. This means the
sections overlap by some amount (about 3.5 inches) so you actually only get
9' 8.5" of height out of a 10' section.
So, if you want to know how high your tower is, count 10 feet for each 25G
section and subtract 3.5" for each overlap. Top sections vary in length,
but still overlap by 3.5". Eight and a half feet for a top is a good average.
On the other hand, if you want to know if a tower section will fit inside
your station wagon for transportation, the length is 10 feet.
45G is another story, entirely.
