Hope you find this as interesting as I did; catching
up on some reading put off for a V-beam project. Seems
as if this issue fits in with towertalk.

"The Department of Energy is pulling out of research on
the health risks of electromagnetic fields. DOE's
decision follows a report last fall by the National
Academy of Sciences that found "no conclusive...
evidence" of adverse health effects from.....
EMF's.

DOE's decision announced in a 7 March letter to the
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, will
also end a program which has been continuing for 20
years about EMF biological mechanisms.

Keith Florig, a science policy expert at Carnegie Mellon,
notes that research on EMF risks "hasn't been very
productive...science isn't really up to the task
of answering the question."

Science, Vol.275, 28 March 1997, page 1867.

So, thank God, another apparent superfluous use of our tax
dollars is coming to an end. Hope this news gets to
the FCC and they cancel the EMF rules to go into
effect on radio amateur operations in 1998!!
