I've seen a number of concerns about leaving space behind your radio
equipment tables so that you can easily access your wires and cables.

Here's one other thing you should do: write an ID on each plug and cable. The
best tape to use to do this is WHITE VINYL TAPE. It molds easily to plug
contours and adheres well to the rubber/plastic surface. 

White vinyl tape is available at most auto parts stores in various widths
(it's used for vehicle striping). Use a permanent marker (like Sharpie) to
write your ID.

I've used this idea for years and I've NEVER had an ID label fall off.
