It is a ring of copper around all objects you wish to protect. It
could be around your shack or around your whole house. The size of
your needs and of your wallet determine the size.
Everything that passes into the circle is bonded to it. The circle is
bonded to the lighting dissipation ground system. The theory is that
during a hit everything goes up and down in potential at the same time
and rate thus no potential for arching and damage results theoretically.
Also remember in these threads that a lightning ground can be the same
or different than an RF ground. In some situations our radio needs
demand both.
