Hy-Gain 205CA, Max Gain Setting:
I have attached a YO input file for a Maximum Gain Setting for the 205CA
antenna. This design produces 7.3 dBd gain from 14.1-14.3 MHz with F/B
better than 20 dB. The 2:1 VSWR bandwidth is only 200 KHz wide and the
real part of the impedance is typically 10-20 ohms. According to YO, NW
and AO models, the maximum resistive loss only amounts to 0.15 dB at the
high end of the band. Although we have not tested this design on our
range, I feel that it would be a good performer over a narrow frequency
range. The Beta-match length would be in the 10-15 inch range, using the
supplied adjustable Beta match. The tip elements should use a dampening
rope, as lengths 60 inches and longer tend to vibrate in low winds.
