It should work just fine on a tower. The 8 foot spec is the *minimum*
distance between the bottom of the R5 and the ground or anything that might
look like a ground such as an triband yagi. Also need quite a bit of
clearance (12 ft or more?) from surrounding objects or you'll loose bandwidth.
My R5 is on a 10 ft mast on top/middle of the roof. At 5 ft off the roof,
the 2:1 bandwidth on twenty was a little too narrow so I went to 10 ft. Have
222 countries with only verticals & 100 watts. Not bad for dummy load on a
stick!

Next year when I get up the tower, I'll probably put it on there.

Merry Christmas!

I have an R7000 on an 8' mast in the middle of the woods behind my house.
I have worked 70 countries since May. Why put it on a tower I don't think
it will work as well. Cushcraft talks about the design for 8'

Good Luck 73
