Hi Dave,

It's most certainly possible to detune your antenna when receiving, and
there are countless threads in the searchable archive here about that very
subject. I suggest entering *detuning tower* or *detune shunt* into the
search field at:
http://lists.contesting.com/_topband/ .

Much has also been discussed here about using common-mode chokes on
Beverage feedlines, as well as do's and don'ts of grounding to minimize
noise or coupling from other Beverage antennas.
