Very interesting hearing some strange openings this morning on topband. Seems there is some path between the pacific Northwest and sporadic places around the country with some kind of "duct". I heard one callsign - licensed in Oklahoma - that was 35 db over S9 calling K5P. This is the same signal strength as a local station about 5 miles from me.
