But that was the best ever solar year on record and very few DX had accesss
to the band or were limited to flea power.
I was working the "world" on 6M those years which was also a very limited
number of countries. Not even G, DL, et but EI and some others were 20-30
over 9 with 5-10W.
HB 100W on AM, 6AK5 6J6 converter into a HQ-129X on 40M and HB 4 el at about
15' out on LI NY well away from the ocean.
I met Stu many times after 64 when I was at National as he was a regular
visitor and got me interested in 160 but I didnt have a decent antenna or
power until the late 70's and no Beverages till the mid 80's. After that it
was fun.
