You can easily build a "box" that allows you to switch in and out a
receive antenna on the main coax line.
It is pretty difficult to get a rig that does it all from 160-2m.
Good luck!

Gentlemen,
I am grateful for the many thoughtful responses, both directly and on the
reflector.
My price point is around the TS-590 and FT-1200 range, otherwise I believe
I would consider the K3. As many have said, thank goodness for choices and
personal preference.
Here's what I have taken away from all the conversations . . .
1) Trying to get DC to Daylight in one rig (like the TS-2000) will involve
compromise
2) For my price range, upgrading the FT-950 to a TS-590s is likely a wise
move
3) Several rigs, including the 746 and the 910 would give me what I'm
looking for on 2m. Transverters might be a better option, as they allow me
to leverage the circuitry of the HF rig
4) Topband relevance - my desire for a separate receive antenna circuit
(not a second receiver per se) is appropriate so that I can use a loop for
low band receive on my smaller lot, that will play into my upgrade of my
HF/6m rig
Again, many thanks for a robust and educational discussion. I hope to hear
many of you on the air soon!
73 and Good DX!
