"As an example though, EZNEC shows FS of a vertical as virtually zero at zero degrees. We know that isn't true."And as has been repeated a number of times between myself and Richard Fry, the right tool is needed to obtain accurate low-angle results from a base-fed monopole. One such tool is 4Nec2's surface wave modeling application when running under NEC4. The surface wave tool is designed expressly for low-angle modeling just above the earth's surface. The surface wave tool most be used in conjunction with the normal modeling application to get a complete and accurate vertical profile from 0 through 90 degrees.
