One thing I  really enjoyed about the older - 1950's vintage stuff - C-Rural 
Wire was a roll of it smelled like Skunks had blasted it. Must have been a 
high Sulfur content rubber in which they encased the two wires.

The stuff has a LONG life outside in the wx.
