I have successfully used "tape" made by flattenning the 
braid of RG8 type coax. It is easy to work with, can carry 
plenty of current and does not have the sharp edges of the 
real copper tape. I varnished the finised antenna both to 
prevent corrsoion and to prevent acrcing.
