Jim,

Try a BOG in each of the directions you listed. You may be pleasantly
surprised by the results. I used a 105 foot BOG and it was a MAJOR
improvement over my TX vertical. I have since lengthened the BOG to
about 275 feet and it is a very fine performer. The proximity to ground
reduces the velocity factor, and makes the effective length longer.
Mine are unterminated, and work well.

Just a thought, but you may be missing out on a major benefit if you
don't at least try them out for a while. You should put up as many
different rx antennas as you can, and switch between them to find the
one that works best for the current conditions. Performance varies due
to a variety of conditions and what works best today may not be best
tomorrow, and the antenna that did not perform best yesterday may be the
ticket today. After an extended period of A/B/C testing you can remove
one and substitute another, always upgrading the weak line....

73 es good luck!

Top Banders,

I live on a 100x200 suburban lot. I have an inverted L up 70 feet and
across 60 ft. It's not much of a RX antenna.

Here is the question.

Would it be worth it for me to put up an approximate 190-200 foot
beverage aimed at Eu for RX? Will it work? Will it be better than my
Inv L on RX?

I can also put up an ~ 160 ft beverage aimed at JA, UA0, UA9 ... would
the short bev be better than my inverted L on RX?

Thanks for your input,

Jim N4DU

p s - I'd be using the Array Solutions SWSD-1 bev box
