I have two Bevs both running through Hawthorn hedges. They have to go up and
down a little bit, sometimes along the ground to get past gateways etc, but
are nominally about 5' agl.
One to the East is 100m and one to the West is 200m long. Both terminated as
per textbooks.
They work well, especially the Westerly one.

Tie the wire to a long cane and just push it along as deep into the hedge as
possible to keep it back from hedgecutters.

A TIP...If I have to replace them, I'll definately use Twin Cable such as
Bell Wire or Speaker Cable so that I can short cct the far end and use the
loop measurement to check continuity.
They could even be converted to reversable Bevs that way.
