Dan,
I don't use Hygain's loading coil or trap for 160 on the Hy-Tower. What I
did was make an Inverted L and connected it to the base of the Hy-Tower,
then ran the wire up to an insulator installed at the top of the tower part
of the antenna. From there it runs up to a height 76 feet into a tree before
it starts running horizontally. It seems to work very well.
I do have a lot of groung radials down, 129 of them totalling 8000 ft of
wire. But you shouldn't have to go to near that extreme for it to performe
very well.
Good luck,
Dan
