With all due respect, contesting and dx'ing really do not mix........no
matter how hard you try or rules that are changed.

To "win" an contest, you need to call cq. You cannot win by tuning the
bands.

Add to the mix, directional antennas, the world working the world and
sometimes there are going to be stations you won't work even thou they are
very loud. I was hearing one DX station very well but he was working Eu
stations one after another. It is a fact of physics they were louder so they
got the Q.

The ARRL CW weekend is a great chance to work states and DX as it is the US
working the world.

Each contest has its strengths and weaknesses. Realize that dx'ing on a
contest weekend requires patience and skill.
