I appreciate your advice, Bob, and I never owned or used an amp 
until about four years ago, nor have I ever had aluminum in the air. 
BUT: 160M is VERY different from the west coast than it is from the 
Midwest or Ontario. Sure, go for it without an amp if you don't have 
one. But if you can hear well and the other guy can't, an amp is not 
only well justified, it's a necessity!
