I absolutely agree. That may explain AL at 1200 km and GA at 1225 Km as the 
Terminator was at only 2700 km behind the path from my QTH. But not MN at 
1020 km with the Terminator at ~9000 km (W) and ~11000 km(E). Maybe the only 
relevant factor here is the Zenith angle of the sun at the time of the QSO 
which would affect the amount of  ionization / absortion on the path.

FYI Ron VK3IO was at my noise level in VE3 this morning - down 8 S units 
from yesterday.
