Earl was right there with all the old timers from my start
in radio. Earl was one of the technical pioneers of 160. I
remember Earl working K8KAS and the rest of us in the Toledo
area many times.
Earl not only popularized shunt fed towers, he also was one
of the first I knew who used a small loop antenna for
receiving. He was very active from Texas as W5RTQ.
It's always sad to see a veteren 160 op who was a genuinely
nice guy and spent years contributed so much to others pass
away.
