I would like to apologize to the gang trying to work FK8CP this morning
on 1.843 for the excessive time it took me to complete my QSO with
Remi. It took some time for me to realize that he wanted confirmation
that I got my report right.
The patience of the guys waiting to work him, with time running out, was
great - it renewed my faith in the "gentleman's band" reputation of 160.
The sun had already been up here for over 20 minutes, and his signal was
fading fast. Add to this the fact that I'm a "CW only" operator (it
took me several minutes to find where I had stored my microphone) and
you have my flimsy excuse.
When he first called CQ on 1.831 cw he was an honest 599 on my 270
degree Beverage as the sun came up. Unfortunately, he immediately QSY'd
to SSB, when he heard the strength of signals, I guess. I hope we have
more days with that type of propagation.
Bert, VE3QAA
