Hello all,
there were interesting Condx on TopBand here today morning. I was waiting
for FO/DL1AWI from Austral Is. and was just about to switch off my remote
controlled QTH because of sunrise time arriving. Based on my over 40 years
long experience with 160m band, all the previous openings was being up to,
let say few minutes local sunrise before ( completely different from 80 mtrs
band ). Nevertheless I heard FO/DL1AWI suddenly calling CQ at my calculated
sunrise ( on 450m long simple Beverage to his direction of course ). This
would be still unique a little to hear him at my sunrise but he continued to
call CQ EU and was quite well readable 11 minutes after local sunrise what
is really anomalous. John ON4UN worked him too but he has sunrise later then
one is here in OK but I continued to read Austral Is. all the time.
The experience above confirms that TopBand is mysterious magic band and be
worth the effort improving antenna systems further.
