Mike, I used thermostat wire for several of my reversible Beverages. Got it in rolls from the local electrical wholesale house. It was 2-wire #20. As I recall, the characteristic impedance measured around 90-100 ohms. W8JI has discussed measuring the Z0 in several of his papers. My MFJ worked fine.
