Directivity is THE measure for any receiving antenna.
You would not notice sensitivity problems with any modern
receiver (even without an external preamp). See Chapter 7,
Verse 2.4.4.1 of ON4UN's book:
"...0.5-1m for added high-angle discrimination and reduced
omnidirectional pick up." (with safety disclaimer)
