Hi guys , I thought I would share my receive ant with you. I am situated on
a very small lot 6600 square ft so beverages are out. I do have a stockade
fence that is shaped like a letter U that is 270 ft over all in length. We
will
call this a symmetrical U closed loop antenna. It is as follows I got from a
friend 4000 ft of #18 wire and I attached it to the middle rail of the
stockade fence starting in the center of the U and working back and forth so
all
4000 ft of wire was deployed the 2 ends meet at the center of the U and fed
with a piece of rg58u and run back to the op position thru a ice front end
protector and to a mfj425 thru a pre amp to station receiver. I decouple the
ant
from the feed line with 40 snap on torroid. I have been using this for the
last 6 mo It is awesome for 160m/80m . today I took 40 snap on torroid and
clipped them to the antenna wire at aprox 30 ft intervals in a random fashion
taking 4 wires and clipping them together. It quieted the antenna remarkably
the
sodium vapor street light have a very distinctive noise from the ballast
when they first fire by installing the torrid that man made noise
disappeared....this afternoon at dusk I listened to 9m2ax working eu ,still a
little early
in season for him to east coast but December is a easy shot .I just thought I
would share what I am using from a postage stamp 73 es dx on ray
