About,

"I'm looking for advice about how to efficiently match
my 160m inverted-L to 50 ohms.

Here's what's motivating this question:

My 160m inv-L is about 60ft tall with a 100ft long
horizontal section. I have about 50 ground radials of
varying lengths spread under it. My receiver noise
bridge...(etc.)"

If you cut it to natural quarter wave resonance, you can match 50-ohm
coax using a simple inductive Z-match shunt coil to ground, and feed
across the coil. The coil will be only a few turns, and will slightly
affect the resonant frequency, so you must prune the system with the
coil in place juggling between unity SWR and operating frequency. A
bonus is that it provides a DC path to earth ground. No cost.
