Ron "I believe the conductivity is probably not that good. There appears to be only about 6 inches of soil on top of rock." Your situation sounds similar to a fellow who tried verticals in the desert country, AZ I think, or maybe NM. Anyway, he discovered that even with a good radial field for his vertical, he got much better results with a horizontal dipole. Hope this gives you some ideas.
