Hi all:
I used to use a Kenwood TS-450S on topband in my mobile station I could
hear that third harmonic BC station that Earl is using. It was about S4-6
on the meter. The receiver was definetly not the best for topband so I
upgraded to a Ten Tec OmniVI. When I tune to 1830 with this receiver I can
normally not hear any sign of the harmonic but depending on location I do
hear it in the noise as Earl is hearing. I can certainly atest to the
superiority of the Ten Tec for weak signal reception over the
TS-450s. But I fear that it might make it to the top of the list. My Ten
Tec is much better with weak signals and I think the Hi-pass filter helps to
eliminate these BC signals. This is just my observation between the two
rigs..
