N1EU has compiled a nice summary for the FT-1000MP here: http://www.albany.net/~bg/Yaesu/MPTips.htm You can see my response there but I agree that sometimes a wide filter (2.0 kHz with filters fully narrowed and shifted in the MP) and AGC off seems just as effective! Think that's what I was doing to hear ET3PMW who had a S7 signal under S9+++ crashes. The DSP method described above works better for very weak signals at my noise floor. 73, Bill W4ZV |
