I have build 6 of the KD9SV amps for remote installation on various rx
antennas.  I have been using the NTE 455 and they work fine.  Not sure how
much of a compromise the NTE device is, but they have all preformed well.
However, I have switched ALL of my amps over to the much simpler and
non-single band 2n5109 unit described on Larry W7IUV's site(
http://home.earthlink.net/~w7iuv/w7iuv/flag.htm ).....this amp is working
very well for me with no broadcast overload problems.  Maybe consider
building one of theses too.
