Several years ago, I tried a version of the dual band inverted L which
George, K8GG described. It is a compromise to be sure but not a bad one.
There is a complete description and a schematic for a matching network in a
QST several years ago...an article by Doug DeMaw , May 1985. It worked
quite satisfactorily except that I should have paid more attention to the
trap construction...the trap I constructed did not like much over 500 watts.
But as a "first" 160M antenna it did a creditable job on both 80 and 160M
with a dozen or so radials underneath.
