Hi Dick:
Joy, joy. XZ0A finally makes it to the east coast. This morning
between 13 and 15 Z I worked them on both 12 and 10 meters to complete my 9
band sweep. They stayed active just long enough for us East Coast guys to
get a shot at them!
Top band observations: They apparently worked 99% of their East Coast
stations on the SW skew path between 1145 and around 13 Z.
This path was open at least marginally on about half of the days they were
active. K3RR and myself + many others heard them quite regularly around
23Z from the southeast, but neither Joe or I ever heard them complete a US
QSO in this time period. I worked them on 160 once before and once during
the contest (SW) so I refrained from calling on the SE evening path, but
broke my rule once on Feb 3 at 2315Z and they got 4R? When I heard several
regulars calling who I knew had not worked them I elected not to use their
time getting my call across so I quit reluctantly and just listened...they
continued to CQ and never got anymore partials.
All in all a wonderful operation especially with so many of the east coast
making it through on the truly difficult bands of 160, 12 & 10.
Bravo!
