Hi All,
The problem with an inverted L 45 ft tall and 175 ft. overall is the 130 ft
horizontal wire, which is like a 1/4 wave wire acting as a low "sloper"
putting most of the RF energy into the sky.
I would recommend no more than 100 - 110 ft horizontal wire for a 45 ft
vertical component, which puts the 1/4 wave point about half way up the
vertical.
My alternate is even shorter: a total 1/4 wavelength, which means only
about 83 ft horizontal wire.
The only alternative is to make the antenna into a Tee, which would cancel
the horizontal radiation. Then, with 45 ft vertical about 90 ft horizontal
on each side of the tee top, the current maximum is about at the top of the
mast. You need to model that to confirm that 90 feet each side of the Tee
top is about equal to 130 feet L top on one side only.
