Good point so I'm copying it out! Only the smallest gauge ladder 
line is close to 450 ohms. The heavy lines range all the way down 
to mid-300 ohm ranges.

But if you do the transformers correctly to match the line to the 
antenna mode impedance, you can use anything from coax to 300 
ohm twinlead to one foot spaced lines! 

The way to tell is to sweep the line and watch input SWR change 
with frequency changes. Even if SWR is some value other than 1:1, 
it shouldn't change much as frequency is varied when measured 
right at the Beverage input transformer.
