The single wire beverage is terminated at the transformer edge and the load
is the receiver through the coaxial line and the unbalanced step up
transformer.
The 2 wire beverage were one end is open and the other shorted to ground, is
terminated ONLY at transformer edge. In one of the 2 directions the signal
is effectively a reflection and maximum energy would occurr with an infinite
SWR.
I think it's closer to reality to explain the reported lossy effect (if any)
as the lack of energy transfer between a voltage generator and a load of
incorrect (higher) value.
